Amuchechukwu Nwafor's debut collection, Salt Water Roots, traverses three levels of the author's experience of her self. The poems in the book reflect on migration, immigration, nativity, love, substance abuse, sexual advocacy and sexual exploration.

Amuchechukwu Nwafor is the 2024 winner of the DC Poet Project, an annual open-to-all poetry competition produced to identify and support exceptional new poets. A Washington, DC-based poet, teaching artist, and educator, Amuchechuwku identifies as a first-generation born Black American. Her poetry has been published in the Mid-Atlantic Review and is forthcoming in additional outlets.
